Fresh Water System

The fresh water system begins with two 250 gallon (950 liter) vinyl rain barrels. These have a wire rim and 1/2" grey pvc legs. Assemble by inserting the legs into the sleeves at the side of the tank. If the wire rim is not correct, there are some extra parts in a 2" cardboard tube in the trailer. Install a brass shut-off valve in each tank outlet. The brass valves are stored in the plumbing supply kit in the trailer. Make sure that you use the hose thread end of the brass valve to connect with the tank. Make sure that a gasket is installed. Fill with water to weight down tank. Attach 1/2" braided hose to valve. The other end of the hose is already connected to a Shur-flo pump. Make sure that there are cone gaskets in the braided line connections.

Connect potable water hoses to both pumps. Supply power to the pumps. Tape the hoses together and secure with a play staple to prevent damage from tripping. One hose will supply the showers. The other hose will supply the kitchen.

The shower circuit supplies a riser that is zip tied to one leg of the shower structure.

The kitchen circuit is filtered through a carbon filter near the kitchen. It then branches into three legs. These supply the kitchen sink supply bucket, the hand wash station supply bucket, and the pressure washer for the misting fan. In the future, I may build a manifold to make this split. Currently we are using Y fittings.

Each of the sinks uses a foot pump to help conserve water. This foot pump has a 1/2" vinyl hose that is inserted into the supply bucket. the output hose connects to a barbed fitting on the faucet with a hose clamp.

There are spare Shur-flo pumps and foot pumps should there be any failures.
